(Jan. 16, 2003 —Present) BACKSTORY: At the Hyperion Theater, located in the Hollywood Backlot section of Disney’s California Adventure, an original Disney musical “Disney’s Steps in Time” was the premiere production. Afterwards, the Broadway musical “Blast!” followed in a condensed version that actually starred a few members from the original Broadway Cast.
“Disney’s Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular” has been popular ever since its debut in 2003.This 45-minute Broadway-type show has top notch songs (from the Disney film), sets, special effects, and talent. Alan Menken composed a new song for this production, “To Be Free”, based on a musical cue from the film. Much of the success of this stageshow can be credited to the comedic talents of the genie, who is known for his ever-changing adlibs.
