Griffith Park & Observatory

BACKSTORY: Named after Griffith J. Griffith, whose bequest in 1919 was finally dedicated on May 14, 1935. Griffith Park is a large municipal park in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. The park covers 4,310 acres of land, making it one of the largest urban parks in North America. It has also been referred to as the Central Park of Los Angeles but is much larger and more untamed and rugged than its New York City counterpart.

Travel Town/LIVE STEAMERS @ GRIFFITH PARK

BACKSTORY: Located adjacent to the Travel Town Museum is a local club devoted to the preservation of locomotives through scale models founded in 1956. It was started by train enthusiasts for the purpose of educating people in railroad history and lore and also to further the avocation of live steam, gas-mechanical and electronic railroad technology.
