The Mission Inn

BACKSTORY (1876—Present): It is hard to put this place into words; ecclectic, historical, warm, massive, wacky...it must be seen to be believed. Beginning as a 12-room adobe boarding house it grew into a massive hotel with 238 rooms and suites. The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa has been in Downtown Riverside since 1876. Frank Miller opened the first wing of his new Mission-Revival style hotel in 1903, incorporating different structural elements of the 21 California Missions. Mr. Miller went onto add three more wings to his hotel: the Cloister, the Spanish, and finally completed it with the Rotunda wing in 1931. Be sure to check out page two of my Mission Inn Photos.
