Walt Disney Concert Hall

BACKSTORY (October 23, 2003–Present): Lillian Disney, Walt’s widow, donated $50 million to get this project started back in 1987. Designed by Frank Gehry, this structure has been criticized for its design, but widely praised for its accoustics. After its completion, some of the polished steel used on the skin of the building had to be sanded to reduce the reflective glare that was causing extreme heat for the condominiums across the way.
